March 25, 1972 - The final episode of Bewitched aired on this date. It was the 252nd episode and completed the eighth season of this popular TV sitcom. The episode's title was: The Truth, Nothing But the Truth, So Help Me Sam."
The premise of the show is on the mixed marriage of a witch, Samantha Stephens (Elizabeth Montgomery), and her mortal husband, Darrin (originally played by Dick York and later by Dick Sargent). The show showed how true love can endure the most challenging situations, even between a witch and a human.
Samantha's mother Endora (Agnes Moorehead) cannot tolerate mortals, especially her son-in-law Darrin. Endora constantly pretends to forget Darrin's name, at times calling him "Darwin," "Dum-Dum," "Derwood," "What's-his-name," etc., all much to his annoyance.
As a kid, my mind raced with possibilities of what I could do just by wiggling my nose (as Samantha did) to make (nearly) anything happen. (Also as a kid, I thought Elizabeth Montgomery was a goddess, wow.)
Even though the show ended 37 years ago today - Bewitched DVDs (see complete seasons below) and Bewitched memorabilia still sell at a pretty good clip.
