Since the news of Amazon's outstanding Q4 '08 earnings call yesterday, I've been trying to think of a way to illustrate the situation. eBay, once the big scary adversary has been wounded. It seems they haven't gotten the point. Amazon is trouncing them in sales, and eBay is updating their chat boards.
They've just received a staggering blow from Amazon. eBay says it's the economy, yet their closest rival thrived in the same period in the same economy. eBay is still insisting things are on track. They are in denial. And after sleeping on it, and wracking my brain, I came up with this clip of the Black Knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Just to be clear - the Black Knight represents eBay - with that in mind, I love the last line in this clip.
